Urgensi Pendidikan Islam: Antara Tradisi dan Modernitas
Abstract
Islamic education faces increasing pressure to preserve its long-standing intellectual traditions while adapting to modern demands characterized by rationality, technology, and 21st-century competencies. This study aims to analyze the urgency of Islamic education in bridging tradition and modernity, and to identify forms of integration needed to enhance its relevance. The research employs a library-based method by reviewing scholarly literature and applying descriptive analysis. The findings show that Islamic education is rooted in traditional systems such as halaqah, kuttab, and pesantren, yet contemporary developments require innovations in curriculum, teaching methods, and the use of technology. Integrating classical values with modern educational approaches is essential for cultivating morally grounded, critical, and adaptive learners. This study highlights the need to reconstruct Islamic education to ensure its competitiveness and continued contribution to contemporary society.
